“Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.” Romans 12:21 HCSB
The evil in the world wants to conquer us to be ineffective for God, but we must be determined to live for God no matter what. Every Christian will go through 4 seasons of life.
The first season is the spring season. This is the season we experience when we get saved. All the old dead stuff from winter is cast aside to make room for new growth. This season is filled with new life in Christ. In spring it is easy to serve God.
The second season will be Summer. This is the mountain top experience with God. it is filled with lots of faith but little growth. during this season we have the feeling of a “super Christian”, God can do anything through and in me. During summer it is also easy to serve God.
The season after summer is fall. It is a season of preparation. It is the time we are storing up for winter. But also during this time, we are experiencing a lot of fruit. our ministry is growing and we can see God moving in the lives of people around us. In Fall it is easy to serve God. Who knows, maybe those enemies you have been nice to will become Christians and become helpful in your ministry.
the Fourth season is winter. This is the time when we feel lest effective for God. We have little faith to keep going, but we must. This is the season we need more people around to keep us encouraged and moving forward with God. During this time God is proving to us that He is faithful to bring us through the blizzards of winter. The length of this season can be elongated by our own stubbornness to be content where we are. But God is getting ready to break us into something new. In this stage, we must be willing to conquer evil with good. We must progress farther into life with God. He may seem a million miles away but He is still here!
Each season has its own challenges but each season is beneficial for God to work out His will in us. If we live too long in spring we will outgrow our purpose in our lives. We will become haughty (pride in knowledge) in our own eyes. During summer pride can creep in because we are on top of it all. During fall there is a trap of our ministry becoming arrogant (pride in ourselves), But during winter we face depression and anxiety. We fear the next storm we want to pull into ourselves, but we must get out and spend time doing what God would want us to do.
All too often Christians get wiped out during winter because we can get comfortable in our sin. But let us not become a hybernating Christian during this time, but rather find a way to keep living for God during winter. In this way, we are conquering evil with good.
“So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.”

For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, hostile powers, height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!”

The seasons will come and good. Each will only last as long as God has allowed. But we must to faithful to do our part during each season. We must not be willing to let evil conquer our current season but we must let good conquer each season.
