“But someone will say, “How are the dead raised? What kind of body will they have when they come? ” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:35‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

On the surface, this question looks like a good question. I can imagine the Corinthians sitting in a room writing Paul. They are taking notes on questions to ask. And one person pipes up and says, “How can someone be raised from the dead if their body is all decayed? Will they just be bones walking around? And immediately someone else will pipe up and say, “good question”.

But then the more we think about it I don’t think only the bones will be raised from the dead but the whole body. It would be creepy to see bones walking around heaven.

Do you remember what happened after Jesus’ death in Jerusalem?

“The tombs were also opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised. And they came out of the tombs after His resurrection, entered the holy city, and appeared to many.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27:52-53‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

On the day Jesus died many people came out of their tombs. it was not bones but bodies. they appeared to many. If a walking skeleton came toward us we would not wait to see what it had to say we would run away as quickly as possible. But if one of your recently deceased loved ones was to walk up to you in the flesh we would want to hug them and listen to them. It most certainly would be less creepy and God would calm our spirit to be able to see them in their body.

Image what the guard saw who was guarding Jesus that night.

“When the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they were terrified and said, “This man really was God’s Son! ”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27:54‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

He is able to see what was going on behind the crowd. I wonder if he saw the people come out of tombs on one said and walk behind the crowd toward Jerusalem. He did not freak out but was in shock and decided that everything that was said of Jesus was true.

Ezekiel was given a slow-motion experience of the d-motion experience of the dead being raised to life.

“The hand of the Lord was on me, and He brought me out by His Spirit and set me down in the middle of the valley; it was full of bones. He led me all around them. There were a great many of them on the surface of the valley, and they were very dry.
Then He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live? ”
I replied, “Lord God, only You know.”
He said to me, “Prophesy concerning these bones and say to them: Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Lord God says to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you, and you will live. I will put tendons on you, make flesh grow on you, and cover you with skin. I will put breath in you so that you come to life. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.”
So I prophesied as I had been commanded. While I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. As I looked, tendons appeared on them, flesh grew, and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man. Say to it: This is what the Lord God says: Breath, come from the four winds and breathe into these slain so that they may live! ”
So I prophesied as He commanded me; the breath entered them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, a vast army.”

I say a slow-motion experience because in the moment of a twinking of an eye their bodies will be restored and they will walk out of the graves and be taken up to heaven. “Snap” and it is done.

When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing it will be and it will not be a day of terror. For we will find loved ones alive and well in their prime of life. We will find Peter, Moses, and Abraham, but most of all we will find Jesus in all His splendor and be finally able to see God. We will bow down and worship Him. For those who have bad knees now, you will have new knees and willl be able to bow.

So the dead in Christ will rise to live one day with new bodies. Are you ready for the “snap” and be taken up to heaven with all the other saints? It could be sooner than most people are expecting.
