“For He must reign until He puts all His enemies under His feet.” 1 Corinthians 15:25 HCSB
Who are the enemies of God?
Death: but we will cover more on that in the next verse.
“The last enemy to be abolished is death.”

Satan:
Satan’s downfall started when He tried to make himself equal to God even though he was created by God. And God removed him from His presence and cast him to the earth and will ban him to the eternal pit of hell.
“Shining morning star, how you have fallen from the heavens! You destroyer of nations, you have been cut down to the ground. You said to yourself: “I will ascend to the heavens; I will set up my throne above the stars of God. I will sit on the mount of the gods’ assembly, in the remotest parts of the North. I will ascend above the highest clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”

Satan’s unholy angles:
In satan’s attempt to unsurprisingly God’s throne he influenced 1/3 of the angels to join him. But during his fall his followers were cast down with him.
“Then another sign appeared in heaven: There was a great fiery red dragon having seven heads and 10 horns, and on his heads were seven diadems. His tail swept away a third of the stars in heaven and hurled them to the earth. And the dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she did give birth he might devour her child.”

Those who hate God:
God does not hate anyone but because we stand opposed to God we become an enemy of God. As long as we are unwilling to repent and continually make Jesus our Lord we stand against God.
“Therefore the Lord God of Hosts, the Mighty One of Israel, declares: “Ah, I will gain satisfaction from My foes; I will take revenge against My enemies. I will turn My hand against you and will burn away your dross completely; I will remove all your impurities. I will restore your judges to what they once were, and your advisers to their former state. Afterward you will be called the Righteous City, a Faithful City.” Zion will be redeemed by justice, her repentant ones by righteousness. But both rebels and sinners will be destroyed, and those who abandon the Lord will perish.”

All three of these enemies: Satan, his unholy angles, and unrepentant people have this one thing in common — Pride! They think they are better than God and can run their life better than God. But in the end, they will only ruin their life.
Governments and nations tend to be an enemy of God because they are listening to Satan rather than to God. But God uses them to accomplish His will. Take Egypt for example. Joseph was sent to Egypt to rescue his father and his brothers from the famine. But a Pharaoh rose to power who did not know Joseph and enslaved the nation of Israel.
“A new king, who had not known Joseph, came to power in Egypt. He said to his people, “Look, the Israelite people are more numerous and powerful than we are. Let us deal shrewdly with them; otherwise they will multiply further, and if war breaks out, they may join our enemies, fight against us, and leave the country.” So the Egyptians assigned taskmasters over the Israelites to oppress them with forced labor. They built Pithom and Rameses as supply cities for Pharaoh.”

The nation of Babylon was used to execute judgment on the nation of Judah but then suffered under the hand of God because they punished Judah harder than God wanted.
“Babylon must fall because of the slain of Israel, even as the slain of all the earth fell because of Babylon.”
