“For if the dead are not raised, Christ has not been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:16-17‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

How does Jesus’ resurrection affect our sins?

First, If Jesus’ resurrection did not happen then Jesus was a man just like us with sin in His life. And because if He had sin then He would not be the perfect lamb of God. And therefore could not save us from our sins.

“For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life inherited from the fathers, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:18-19‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Second, If Jesus had not been raised from the dead the disciples would have never told his message past the first opposition. One or two people would be able to keep a tight lip about a coverup, but out of 12 or 120 people someone would slip and spill the beans that Jesus’ resurrection was a hoax and the Christian faith would have lost traction before the week was up.

“What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have observed and have touched with our hands, concerning the Word of life —”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

“Seeing this in advance, he spoke concerning the resurrection of the Messiah: He was not left in Hades, and His flesh did not experience decay. “God has resurrected this Jesus. We are all witnesses of this.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:31-32‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Third, if Jesus was not resurrected then His body would see decay and make the whole bible untrustworthy. Because if God lied about Jesus being the messiah what else did He lie about? Which we saw in verse 14 God cannot lie.

“God is not a man who lies, or a son of man who changes His mind. Does He speak and not act, or promise and not fulfill?”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭23:19‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

So if Jesus is resurrected then we can know that: He was the spotless lamb of God sent to take our sins upon Himself. The Christian faith is built upon a savior that was sent from God and not a made-up story. And that God has orchestrated all of the happenings of the Bible to prove to us that He is who He is and will do what He has said he will do.

“For every one of God’s promises is “Yes” in Him. Therefore, the “Amen” is also spoken through Him by us for God’s glory.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:20‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
