“Therefore, those who have fallen asleep in Christ have also perished.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:18‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

If Christ has not been raised then He has no power to raise the saints who have fallen asleep since Him. All souls would be lost forever either to hell or completely erased from existence.

Because He has been raised then all His followers have a hope to raise up to Heaven one day.

“Your heart must not be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if not, I would have told you. I am going away to prepare a place for you. If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come back and receive you to Myself, so that where I am you may be also.”

“I assure you: Anyone who believes has eternal life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:47‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Jesus assured those who were listening to Him early in His ministry that whosoever will believe in Him will experience eternal life. Some people doubted that this son of a carpenter could accomplish this. While others doubted that this Rabbi could make that kind of promise. But a select few wondered why the Son of God would choose sinners as themselves to live with Him in all His Glory.

“When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, because I’m a sinful man, Lord! ” For he and all those with him were amazed at the catch of fish they took, and so were James and John, Zebedee’s sons, who were Simon’s partners. “Don’t be afraid,” Jesus told Simon. “From now on you will be catching people! ” Then they brought the boats to land, left everything, and followed Him.”

Eternal life is given to those with the proper attitude. It is an attitude that puts Jesus above all other relationships and puts you in a humble state under Jesus. For if Jesus becomes our Lord but we stand up against His authority then we have not submitted to Him as Lord. If we lift someone else up above Jesus then they become our Lord and Jesus falls second in command. Jesus is Lord of lords and King of kings. He belongs on top in our lives.

“All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on His right and the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat;
I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink;
I was a stranger and you took Me in;
I was naked and you clothed Me;
I was sick and you took care of Me;
I was in prison and you visited Me.’

“Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You something to drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or without clothes and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and visit You? ’

“And the King will answer them, ‘I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’ Then He will also say to those on the left, ‘Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the Devil and his angels!
For I was hungry and you gave Me nothing to eat;
I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink;
I was a stranger and you didn’t take Me in;
I was naked and you didn’t clothe Me, sick and in prison and you didn’t take care of Me.’

“Then they too will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or without clothes, or sick, or in prison, and not help You? ’

“Then He will answer them, ‘I assure you: Whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me either.’

“And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Will we love and obey Jesus as Lord and see His eternal life or will we be disobedient to Him and face the eternal consequences that were set aside for Satin and his followers?

“The Devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet are, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
