“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:57‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Victory over sin only comes through Jesus. Victory over death only comes through Jesus. The way we obtain Victory over sin and death is by submitting to the Lordship Of Jesus. What does Lordship mean? Lordship is allowing Jesus to be your boss, your commander, and your owner. We need to submit to Jesus as Lord.

“for you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.”

If I have been bough that means I have an owner. I then have to be obedient to my owner. Most of us will inevitably go to the thought of how we were taught the American slaveowners treated their slaves, but that is not the ownership I am talking about, but rather the way we become owned by our bosses as our jobs.

Jesus is not a cruel taskmaster that expects labor without rewarding us. He is a kind boss that will pay us. He expects a job well done but He also pays the highest wages. He paid the price for us now we must be willing servants.

“In the same way, when you have done all that you were commanded, you should say, ‘We are good-for-nothing slaves; we’ve only done our duty.’ ””

“Therefore He said: “A nobleman traveled to a far country to receive for himself the authority to be king and then return. He called 10 of his slaves, gave them 10 minas, and told them, ‘Engage in business until I come back.’

“At his return, having received the authority to be king, he summoned those slaves he had given the money to, so he could find out how much they had made in business. The first came forward and said, ‘Master, your mina has earned 10 more minas.’ “
‘Well done, good slave! ’ he told him. ‘Because you have been faithful in a very small matter, have authority over 10 towns.’
“The second came and said, ‘Master, your mina has made five minas.’ “So he said to him, ‘You will be over five towns.’
“And another came and said, ‘Master, here is your mina. I have kept it hidden away in a cloth because I was afraid of you, for you’re a tough man: you collect what you didn’t deposit and reap what you didn’t sow.’
“He told him, ‘I will judge you by what you have said, you evil slave! If you knew I was a tough man, collecting what I didn’t deposit and reaping what I didn’t sow, why didn’t you put my money in the bank? And when I returned, I would have collected it with interest! ’ So he said to those standing there, ‘Take the mina away from him and give it to the one who has 10 minas.’
“But they said to him, ‘Master, he has 10 minas.’ “ ‘I tell you, that to everyone who has, more will be given; and from the one who does not have, even what he does have will be taken away.”

“No one can be a slave of two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot be slaves of God and of money.”

Not just money, but in all areas of our lives, we cannot have two masters. We will either serve God or money, God or people, God or our job, God, or whatever else demands our service. Victory over things is no longer allowing it to tell you what to do but use it For God’s glory. Money is not bad in of its self, but when it demands we spend it on riotous living it has become our boss. Cars are not bad but when we have to buy the biggest and the nicest to keep up with the Jones’ it has become our boss. A nice house is not bad but when we don’t share it with people it has become our temple of worship. The latest iPhone is not bad but when we use it for ungodly purposes then it has become our idol. But when we use all these things the Godly way God wants us to use them then He becomes our boss and not our stuff.
