“Like the man made of dust, so are those who are made of dust; like the heavenly man, so are those who are heavenly.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:48‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Are we earthly-minded or heavenly minded? If we are earthly minded then we will be people who are of the dust. If we are heavenly minded then we will be people who are of heaven.

“So if you have been raised with the Messiah, seek what is above, where the Messiah is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on what is above, not on what is on the earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with the Messiah in God. When the Messiah, who is your life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:1-4‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

If your confused about what is heaven or what is dust then ask your self this question; “Does this action glorify Jesus?” If it glorifies Jesus then it is the right action. If it does not then you are fulfilling a desire of your flesh. And if you are fulfilling a desire of your flesh then it is of dust with no lasting reward, but shame.

“So what fruit was produced then from the things you are now ashamed of? For the end of those things is death. But now, since you have been liberated from sin and have become enslaved to God, you have your fruit, which results in sanctification — and the end is eternal life!”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:21-22‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

If we want to become more heavenly minded then we must do the things God tells us to do day and night. But what are those things?

“This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to recite it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.”
‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

“Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭1:2‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
https://www.bible.com/72/psa.1.2.hcsb

“Lord, God of my salvation, I cry out before You day and night.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭88:1‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

We are to talk about the Word of God day and night. We are to meditate on the Word of God day and night. We are to pray to God day and night. To sum it up pray and read your bible every morning and every night.

Listen to what the King of Israel was required to do.

“When he is seated on his royal throne, he is to write a copy of this instruction for himself on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests. It is to remain with him, and he is to read from it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, to observe all the words of this instruction, and to do these statutes. Then his heart will not be exalted above his countrymen, he will not turn from this command to the right or the left, and he and his sons will continue ruling many years over Israel.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭17:18-20‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Could you imagine writing down the first five books of the Bible and reading it every day? I don’t think God was expecting the king to ready a page in the scroll but the whole thing every day. What would happen if every member of every church was to read the first four books of the New Testament every day? That would be reading Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John every day. According to the blog Parishable Items, it would cost everyone 4 hours and 21 minutes a day. Basically five-hour-long TV episodes without commercials.

https://parishableitems.wordpress.com/2014/09/09/everyone-has-time-to-read-the-gospels/

If we were to read the gospel through every other day it would be 2 hours and 11 minutes slightly less then 10% of our day.

I don’t know about you but my iPhone screen time is around 5 hours per day. That time is spent playing games or perusing Instagram, or typing up my Quiet Time thoughts. I think I can spend a few less hours staring at my screen and more time reading the Bible.

To be heavenly minded would be set your priorities on heavenly stuff like the Bible, prayer, or people. To be earthly-minded would be to set your priorities that gratify your flesh.
