“For you have not come to what could be touched, to a blazing fire, to darkness, gloom, and storm, to the blast of a trumpet, and the sound of words. (Those who heard it begged that not another word be spoken to them, for they could not bear what was commanded: And if even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned! The appearance was so terrifying that Moses said, I am terrified and trembling. )” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:18-21‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

“No hand may touch him; instead he will be stoned or shot with arrows. No animal or man will live. When the ram’s horn sounds a long blast, they may go up the mountain.”

“I was afraid of the fierce anger the Lord had directed against you, because He was about to destroy you. But again the Lord listened to me on that occasion.”

All of these things took place at Mount Sinai. But they are not what we experience in Christ. For in Christ the Kingdom of God cannot be touched as the Ten Commandments could be. We do not come to a blazing fire from God to burn us up when we sin, but we are in the illuminating fire of The Holy Spirit to reveal our sins. We don’t come to darkness, but the light of Jesus. We don’t come to gloom, but the Joy of The Lord. We don’t come to a storm but a peace that passes all understanding. We don’t come to blast from a trumpet to war or regimented religion, but to life and freedom in Christ. We don’t come to the sound of words but a relationship with Jesus. We don’t come to a God who is terrifying but one who has opened communication and fellowship with Him to all people. God is not ready to strike down the Christian who sins, but the ones who stands defiantly against Him, only because He has to judge them, He wants to welcome them into His Kingdom, but they will not have it. He has tried and will continue to try until the battle of Gog in the last days.

“As for you, son of man, prophesy against Gog and say: This is what the Lord God says: Look, I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. I will turn you around, drive you on, and lead you up from the remotest parts of the north. I will bring you against the mountains of Israel. Then I will knock your bow from your left hand and make your arrows drop from your right hand. You, all your troops, and the peoples who are with you will fall on the mountains of Israel. I will give you as food to every kind of predatory bird and to the wild animals. You will fall on the open field, for I have spoken.” This is the declaration of the Lord God.”

“Then I saw an angel standing on the sun, and he cried out in a loud voice, saying to all the birds flying high overhead, “Come, gather together for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of commanders, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of their riders, and the flesh of everyone, both free and slave, small and great.” Then I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and against His army. But the beast was taken prisoner, and along with him the false prophet, who had performed the signs in his presence. He deceived those who accepted the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image with these signs. Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. The rest were killed with the sword that came from the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.”
