“No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it yields the fruit of peace and righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:11‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

God has a plan for His discipline toward us! There is a plan for the storms in our lives! There is a plan for everything in our lives! There is a plan for our lives! The big question will we submit to God For His plan or will we continue to ruin our lives on our plan?

His plan requires peace in our lives. His plan requires righteousness in our lives. And He wants to give us His holiness, see verse 10.

God’s peace

“You will keep the mind that is dependent on You in perfect peace, for it is trusting in You.”

“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:27‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your care on Him, because He cares about you.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:6-7‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

God’s peace is above the peace of this world. God’s peace transcends understanding. When all the situations around us tell us to worry and fret God says Peace! This peace cannot come because we learn about it or can will it into our lives, but God sends it straight from His throne room. His peace is “Shalam”, the peace that comes straight from Him and Him alone.

 God’s Righteousness

“This is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest,”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:13-14‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

“The one who pursues righteousness and faithful love will find life, righteousness, and honor.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭21:21‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

“The result of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quiet confidence forever.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭32:17‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

“What then? Are we any better? Not at all! For we have previously charged that both Jews and Gentiles are all under sin, as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:9-10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
https://www.bible.com/72/rom.3.9-10.hcsb

“All of us have become like something unclean, and all our righteous acts are like a polluted garment; all of us wither like a leaf, and our iniquities carry us away like the wind.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭64:6‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
https://www.bible.com/72/isa.64.6.hcsb

By ourselves, we are nothing but a filthy shirt. But in Him we are righteous. The blood of Jesus washes all the filth from our clothes and we are clean in God’s sight. The only thing God cannot see through is Jesus’ blood. Because Jesus’ not only covers our sins but washes it away. The end result of righteousness is peace. What is righteousness anyway? Right standing before God! Without Jesus, we cannot stand before God blameless. But in Christ alone, we can! If righteousness yields peace in our life then unrighteousness yields turmoil. If we are suffering from worry and anxiety then evaluate your life and see what is standing in the way of God flooding your life with peace. The breastplate of righteousness is a protective covering over our heart to protect the life pump of every child of God. If we lose our righteousness Satan will have our life eventually. So it is up to us to keep our breastplate of righteousness all polished up and in good standing with God.

God’s holiness

“For they disciplined us for a short time based on what seemed good to them, but He does it for our benefit, so that we can share His holiness.

Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness — without it no one will see the Lord.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:10, 14‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
https://www.bible.com/72/heb.12.10,14.hcsb

“since we have been rescued from our enemies’ clutches, to serve Him without fear in holiness and righteousness in His presence all our days.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:74-75‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
https://www.bible.com/72/luk.1.74-75.hcsb

Holiness and righteousness are not bad words, but bad actions when done by the flesh. Then we become self-righteousness and self-holy. But when God applies holiness and righteousness to our life we get to experience Heaven on earth. God’s standard for our life is holiness and righteousness. We accomplish both by being humble before Him, Welcoming the blood of Jesus into our life, and by submitting to the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit. In all of that, we must submit to the discipline of God to produce Peace, righteousness, and holiness in our lives.

“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.”
