“But from the beginning of creation God made them male and female. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh.” Mark 10:6-8 HCSB
“So God created man in His own image; He created him in the image of God; He created them male and female.”

“This is why a man leaves his father and mother and bonds with his wife, and they become one flesh.”

At what point do these two people become one? is it when they recited wedding vows and agree to be husband and wife “till death do us apart”? Nope! Is it when they first kiss? Nope! it happens when they have their first sexual encounter! At that point, these two separate people give up their personal space and be joined as one.
“Don’t you know that anyone joined to a prostitute is one body with her? For Scripture says, The two will become one flesh.”

I honestly believe that in God’s eyes as long as they are living they are one person. So then as long as they are living he is the husband and she is the wife. God then requires him to love her and her to respect him. He is to take care of her. Listen to the command God gave Moses.
“If he takes an additional wife, he must not reduce the food, clothing, or marital rights of the first wife.”

Treat her like she is you! Treat him like he is you! For in God’s eyes that is exactly what has happened.
“A husband should fulfill his marital responsibility to his wife, and likewise a wife to her husband. A wife does not have the right over her own body, but her husband does. In the same way, a husband does not have the right over his own body, but his wife does.”

“Wives, be submissive to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and don’t be bitter toward them.”
Colossians 3:18-19 HCSB

“Wives, submit to your own husbands as to the Lord, for the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of the body. Now as the church submits to Christ, so wives are to submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her to make her holy, cleansing her with the washing of water by the word. He did this to present the church to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or anything like that, but holy and blameless. In the same way, husbands are to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hates his own flesh but provides and cares for it, just as Christ does for the church, since we are members of His body. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This mystery is profound, but I am talking about Christ and the church. To sum up, each one of you is to love his wife as himself, and the wife is to respect her husband.”
Ephesians 5:22-33 HCSB

“In the same way, wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, even if some disobey the Christian message, they may be won over without a message by the way their wives live when they observe your pure, reverent lives.
Husbands, in the same way, live with your wives with an understanding of their weaker nature yet showing them honor as coheirs of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.”
