“He (Jesus) set out from there and went to the region of Judea and across the Jordan. Then crowds converged on Him again and, as He usually did, He began teaching them once more.” Mark 10:1 HCSB
What are we known for? Jesus was known as a teacher, a healer, and a miracle worker. Why was He known this way? Because that is what he did. His usual custom when He was around the crowd or alone was to teach. His teaching may have come as he was throwing all the merchants out of God“s temple. Or He would teach sitting in a boat because there was no more room on the shore. Or he would be sitting in the house at night with his disciples better explaining the parables he told outside the house. When He was twelve He astonished the temple leaders at His understanding. Latter when He was beginning His ministry everyone marveled at his teaching. When the rich young ruler approached Him he addressed Him as “good teacher”. Several times his closest followers addressed him as Rabbi.
Jesus was known for teaching. What are we known for?
What we are known for should fall into five categories.
1. Apostles
2. Prophets
3. Evangelists
4. Pastors
5. Teachers
“And He personally gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, for the training of the saints in the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ,”
Ephesians 4:11-12 HCSB

These five are known as the five-fold ministry gifts. They are what we do for and in the church. Did you notice all of these use the word of God to better “teach” the church? They are there to equip the saints to go out of the church and win the lost, to heal the sick, to disciple the young.
“Now you are the body of Christ, and individual members of it. And God has placed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, next miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, managing, various kinds of languages.”
1 Corinthians 12:27-28 HCSB

1. Apostles
2. Prophets
3. Teachers
4. Miracles
5. Healing
6. Helping
7. Managing
8. Languages
These eight are how we do our job in the church. We may be a pastor but we primarily use teaching to deliver our message. Or we may be a prophet but we use healing to confirm what we have prophesied. These eight are called the motivational gifts. They are what keeps us doing our job with passion.
Last, of all, we have the gifts of the Spirit.
1. Wisdom
2. Knowledge
3. Faith
4. Healing
5. Miracles
6. Prophecy
7. Discernment
8. Tongues
9. Interpretation
“A demonstration of the Spirit is given to each person to produce what is beneficial: to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another, the performing of miracles, to another, prophecy, to another, distinguishing between spirits, to another, different kinds of languages, to another, interpretation of languages. But one and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as He wills.”
1 Corinthians 12:7-11 HCSB

These gifts are given by The Holy Spirit as He sees fit for the situation but one will stand out as your prominent gift and it will be what you will use most of the time.
So are you a pastor-teacher-faith person? or are you an evangelist-helping-tongues person? Whatever you are do it. Practice it. Let God grow it in your life.
You may be asking what I am. Well, I think I may be a prophet-helping-wisdom person.
What are you known for? If what you are known for does not fall into these categories it may be sin and it might be a good idea to forsake your bad reputation and pursue a new one in Christ.
