“Peter began to tell Him, “Look, we have left everything and followed You.” Mark 10:28 HCSB
What are the things we know Peter left to follow Jesus?
“When Jesus went into Peter’s house, He saw his mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.”
Matthew 8:14 HCSB

Peter left His house, wife, and mother-in-law and began traveling around with Jesus.
“As He was walking along the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon, who was called Peter, and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, since they were fishermen. “Follow Me,” He told them, “and I will make you fish for people! ” Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.”
Matthew 4:18-20 HCSB

Peter left boats, nets, and a fishing business to follow Jesus so that He could learn to fish for people instead.
“Jesus told him, “Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.”
Matthew 8:20 HCSB

Peter left all the comforts of life to live with Jesus along the roads of Isreal so that he could be dependant on Jesus for all his needs.
So how did Peter find Jesus? His first encounter was when Andrew told Peter that Jesus was the messiah by the words of John the Baptist.
“Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard John and followed Him. He first found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah! ” (which means “Anointed One”), and he brought Simon to Jesus. When Jesus saw him, He said, “You are Simon, son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which means “Rock”).”

Then later Peter was fishing with Andrew and Jesus called to them to fish on the other side of the boat.

So we know Peter left everything to follow Jesus. What have we left to follow Jesus? Have we left the former life of sin to follow Jesus?
“A thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.”
John 10:10 HCSB

Our old life is only fake promises from the Devil. He “promises” more fun and better quality of life, but in the end, it ends up with regrets and nothing to show for it. But God’s way of living is fulfilled promises if we could hold on till the end whether it be the end of the storm or the end of life as we know it. God always keeps His promises!
“I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
