Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called the blind man and said to him, “Have courage! Get up; He’s calling for you.” Mark 10:49 HCSB

The same people who were telling hIm to be quiet are now telling him to get up.  Jesus could have walked over to him but He used the crowd to call him. Jesus had already called him in his heart.

No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up on the last day.

The same people who were discouraging him are now telling him to have courage. What changed? The call of Jesus changes everything! Our immediate circumstances have not changed but the condition of our hearts gets encouraged. We began to be excited for we have a call, a purpose, a mission. Our eyes get turned to God and away from the distractions of the world. Our naysayers become our biggest encouragers because they see the call of Jesus on our lives. Jesus uses them to establish His call in our lives. They may still try to discourage us but it confirms our call and the opposite becomes reality and we become encouraged.

We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.
