"Many people told him to keep quiet, but he was crying out all the more, “Have mercy on me, Son of David! ” Mark 10:48 HCSB

The crowd was trying to silence Bartimaeus. but he was determined to receive mercy from Jesus. He was not willing to listen to the crowd. He was following his heart to receive healing from Jesus. He Knew just want he needed from Jesus and only Jesus could do it.

“And many times it has thrown him into fire or water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” Then Jesus said to him, “ ‘If You can ’?    Everything is possible to the one who believes.”  Immediately the father of the boy cried out, “I do believe! Help my unbelief.”

Just then, a woman who had suffered from bleeding for 12 years approached from behind and touched the tassel on His robe,  for she said to herself, “If I can just touch His robe, I’ll be made well! ”

“Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, in terrible agony! ” “I will come and heal him,” He told him. “Lord,” the centurion replied, “I am not worthy to have You come under my roof. But only say the word, and my servant will be cured.  Hearing this, Jesus was amazed and said to those following Him, “I assure you: I have not found anyone in Israel with so great a faith!

One of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at His feet and kept begging Him, “My little daughter is at death’s door. Come and lay Your hands on her so she can get well and live.” So Jesus went with him, and a large crowd was following and pressing against Him. While He was still speaking, people came from the synagogue leader’s house and said, “Your daughter is dead. Why bother the Teacher anymore? ” But when Jesus overheard what was said, He told the synagogue leader, “Don’t be afraid. Only believe.”

Mark 5:22‭-‬24‭, ‬35‭-‬36 HCSB

Four people came to Jesus with a specific need. In the case of the father, doubt had begun to creep in to silence his belief. He brought his son to Jesus but He was nowhere to be found. So he asked Jesus' disciples to cast out the demon, but they could not. I think by now he was beginning to worry and doubt that his boy would ever be well. But then Jesus came down off the mountain and cured the boy.

In the second story with the woman who was bleeding. She had lost hope until she heard that Jesus was coming to town. She made up her mind with all that she had left she was going to be healed. So she approached Jesus but not to bother Him she would just touch his robe, no doubt it was one of the four tassels on the hem of Him.

In our third example, the Centurian was facing a fear of losing a beloved servant, but instead of facing fear alone he approached Jesus in faith and decided that Jesus did not need to come to his house but only say the word, with the same voice that created the earth and his servant, and his servant would be healed.

In our last example, we find Jairus who has a daughter dying in bed and has loss trying to silence him, but He heads to Jesus confident that Jesus will find His house and restore his daughter.

So what part of life is trying to silence you and me? is it the crowd around us? Is it doubt? Is it lost hope? Is it fear? or Is it a loss? What are we going to cling to see how Jesus can have mercy on us? Mercy! Belief! Unwavering confidence! Faith! And a word from Jesus. Please don't let all these things and others silence you, but hold on to the promises of God and begin proclaiming loudly, "Jesus son of David have mercy on me!"
