“When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out, “Son of David, Jesus, have mercy on me! ” Mark 10:47 HCSB
Bartimaeus had the vision to see who Jesus was! He was Rabbi Jesus the Nazarene, the son of David.
Jesus is the name the Angel told His mother and father to name Him.
“Now listen: You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will call His name Jesus.”

“She will give birth to a son, and you are to name Him Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”

He was a Nazarene. Just to say He grew up in Nazareth. Not Bethlehem where he was born, or Jerusalem where the kings lived, but Nazarene where He would grow up seeing His dad to carpentry work.
“But when he heard that Archelaus was ruling over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned in a dream, he withdrew to the region of Galilee. Then he went and settled in a town called Nazareth to fulfill what was spoken through the prophets, that He will be called a Nazarene.”

A side note. The Nazarite vow is never used in the New Testament but only in a brief reference to John the baptist. And the town Nazareth is never used in the Old Testament. Could it be that the people who founded Nazareth were Nazarite devoted Jews and they set themselves apart from the temple leaders of Jerusalem? Joseph saw this town as a good place to raise the son of God!
“Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When a man or woman makes a special vow, a Nazirite vow, to consecrate himself to the Lord , he is to abstain from wine and beer. He must not drink vinegar made from wine or from beer. He must not drink any grape juice or eat fresh grapes or raisins. He is not to eat anything produced by the grapevine, from seeds to skin, during his vow. “You must not cut his hair throughout the time of his vow of consecration. He must be holy until the time is completed during which he consecrates himself to the Lord; he is to let the hair of his head grow long. He must not go near a dead body during the time he consecrates himself to the Lord.

But the angel said to him: Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will name him John. There will be joy and delight for you, and many will rejoice at his birth. For he will be great in the sight of the Lord and will never drink wine or beer. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit while still in his mother’s womb.

Son of David Is the only title that recognizes Jesus as the Messiah.
For I will declare, “Faithful love is built up forever; You establish Your faithfulness in the heavens.” The Lord said, “I have made a covenant with My chosen one; I have sworn an oath to David My servant: ‘I will establish your offspring forever and build up your throne for all generations.’ ” Selah

Then He said to them, “How can they say that the Messiah is the Son of David? For David himself says in the Book of Psalms: The Lord declared to my Lord, ‘Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool.’, David calls Him ‘Lord’; how then can the Messiah be his Son? ”
Luke 20:41-44 HCSB

David had the vision to look forward to the Messiah as being Lord over everything, and he submitted himself to his descendant Jesus. We too must see Jesus as Lord, Savior, friend, and brother. If we stop only at Lord we may fall into the trap that God is up in heaven waiting to strike us down for every act of sin. If we only see Jesus as Savior we can forget that Jesus still desires obedience from us. If we only see Jesus as a friend or brother we can forget that He is our meditator with the father, who will judge us for our obedience to Jesus and every careless word we speak.
I tell you that on the day of judgment people will have to account for every careless word they speak. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
