Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.Ephesians 1:2 HCSB

Grace is God's unmerited favor toward us. Grace is getting what we don't deserve. Like a present to those who don't deserve it and are not expecting it.

Peace is a beyond peace. It is the shalom peace of God. A peace that goes beyond what we can see and settles down deep into our hearts.

This is a standard greeting for letters in the bible.

May grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

I think we get the idea. Paul used it. Peter used it. And John used it. It is not just a what's up greeting, but a prophetic greeting to speak God's grace and peace to us. Is our life in turmoil then we need God's peace. Is our life filled with past regrets and hurts then we need God's grace to move past it.

“When you enter any town or village, find out who is worthy, and stay there until you leave. Greet a household when you enter it, and if the household is worthy, let your peace be on it. But if it is unworthy, let your peace return to you. If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that house or town. I assure you: It will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.

Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this household.’ If a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.

So how can we use grace and peace as an introduction, greeting? Maybe we can season our conversations with grace and peace. Instead of getting together to put other Christians down in the name of love or just kidding, let us encourage each other in the fear and adoration of the Lord. Let's start building one another up by asking what have they read this week that encouraged them. Or ask them how they have seen God move this week.

We would go to Walmart and we would pick a certain check-out line because there was a guy in it who always left you with the parting words, "God bless". He would encourage us and when we started going to his church, by accident, it was encouraging to get to know him better. He left us with encouraging words always seasoned with God.

We have other friends who come over and hang out who will talk about God more than we play games. If you all know us at all we love to play board games and these friends will play games but God is always the center of our conversations.

Thank you to all our friends who keep our conversations seasoned with grace and peace.

And let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

Act wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Your speech should always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer each person.
Colossians 4:5‭-‬6 HCSB

But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin’s deception.
Hebrews 3:13 HCSB

If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; for you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.
Proverbs 25:21‭-‬22 HCSB

Here is a thought. Let us be kind and nice to everyone because we don't know who is listening and who might need it and who will find Jesus because of us.
