“And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, so that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.” John 17:19 NASB2020
Jesus is saying, “I have been obedient to your word and set Myself apart from the world so that My disciples may be also set apart from the world by Your word.”

“Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

First, we must be willing to offer ourselves unto God for His work.
Second, we must set ourselves apart from the world.
Third, God will prove to us what His good, acceptable, and perfect will is.
The Christian life is about setting apart from the world and toward God. Those who will not or think that they don't need to will be surprised come eternity.
“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth.”

But for those who will set themselves apart from the world, they will be humble come eternity.
“So you too, when you do all the things which were commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.’ ””
