Philip the Evangelist and His Four Daughters
“On the next day we left and came to Caesarea, and we entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him. Now this man had four virgin daughters who were prophetesses.”

If you missed my post about Philip you can read it here. http://bharper504.blogspot.com/2022/02/philip-went-down-to-city-of-samaria-and.html
One thing I missed is how Philip appears to finish. This is the last time Philip is mentioned in the Bible. We see that he has settled down in Caesarea and had four daughters. But they each had one specific trait, they prophesied.
“Now you are Christ’s body, and individually parts of it. And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, and various kinds of tongues. But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And yet, I am going to show you a far better way.”
1 Corinthians 12:27-28, 31 NASB2020

“Pursue love, yet earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. For the one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people, but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries. But the one who prophesies speaks to people for edification, exhortation, and consolation. The one who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; but the one who prophesies edifies the church.
Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but rather that you would prophesy; and greater is the one who prophesies than the one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edification. Therefore if the whole church gathers together and all the people speak in tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are insane? But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all;
Therefore, my brothers and sisters, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But all things must be done properly and in an orderly way.”

“Then the Spirit of the Lord will rush upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be changed into a different man. And it shall be when these signs come to you, do for yourself what the occasion requires, because God is with you. Then it happened, when he turned his back to leave Samuel, that God changed his heart; and all those signs came about on that day. When they came there to the hill, behold, a group of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God rushed upon him, so that he prophesied among them. And it came about, when all who previously knew him saw that he was indeed prophesying with the prophets, that the people said to one another, “What is this that has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?”

“Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to him; and He took away some of the Spirit who was upon him and placed Him upon the seventy elders. And when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied. Yet they did not do it again.”
Numbers 11:25 NASB2020

The Old Testament is filled with people prophesying, usually one at a time, but with Moses, we have 72 people prophesying, the seventy that were with Moses, and then two that were still in the camp. The way they were known to be filled with God’s spirit is that they prophesied. Some hold on to that prophesy in the Old Testament was speaking in tongues.
I regress, now Philip and these four young daughters. He raised them in the full aspect of following Jesus and taught them to obey the Spirit as he had done earlier in his life.
A challenge to us. How are we raising our kids? Are we teaching them to obey Jesus? To follow His voice? And live in the move of the Holy Spirit. Or have we watered down God into something that is just a good story? How we raise our kids is how we will be remembered!
