The role Silas played in the early church.
“Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas: Judas who was called Barsabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brothers.
Judas and Silas, also being prophets themselves, encouraged and strengthened the brothers and sisters with a lengthy message. After they had spent time there, they were sent away from the brothers and sisters in peace to those who had sent them out.
But Paul chose Silas, and left after being entrusted by the brothers to the grace of the Lord.”

“Now about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them;
And the jailer asked for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear, he fell down before Paul and Silas;
The officers reported these words to the chief magistrates. And they became fearful when they heard that they (Paul and Silas) were Romans,”

What a wonderful role Silas played in the early church. He was a faithful leader along with Judas in the church of Jerusalem to be sent with an important letter to the churches in Gentile country. He was a prophet. He delivered a lengthy message to encourage the church. He then traveled back to Jerusalem but then found himself back with Paul being chosen to accompany Paul on his journeys instead of Barnabas. Then he was with Paul in prison praising God at the midnight hour. When the jailer awoke from the earthquake he fell at the feet of both Paul and Silas. On top of all that he was also a Roman citizen with Paul.
We will never look up and find ourselves praising God in the midnight hour until we put forth the effort to be faithful to what has called us to do today. Are we faithful to the “church” God has us in now? Are we acting in the role God has given us to do? Are we able to answer the hope we have? Are we an encouragement to the leadership whom we serve under? Then and only then will be found faithful to praise God in the midnight hour!
“But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, but with gentleness and respect; and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who disparage your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame.”

“And he said to him, ‘Well done, good slave; since you have been faithful in a very little thing, you are to have authority over ten cities.’”
