31,102 points of instruction

“Though I were to write out for him ten thousand points of My instruction, they would be regarded as something strange.”

‭‭Hosea‬ ‭8:12‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Our modern bibles have more than three times the instruction written by God. According to Wikipedia’s article “Chapters and Verses of the Bible,” there are 23,145 verses in the Old Testament and 7,957 verses in the New Testament. This gives a total of 31,102 verses,[27] which is an average of a little more than 26 verses per chapter. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapters_and_verses_of_the_Bible

Once again God is talking about Ephraim. “If I God were to write out 10,000 points of my own instructions Ephraim would not accept them as from Me.” -BRT (Brian’s Rough Translation)

Do we regard all 31,102 points of instruction in our Bibles as from God? Do we give such instructions enough time in our daily lives to make them impactful?

God does!

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness,”

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

In Generations past The Bible had enough weight that it was taught in the schools. It was read in every home. It was the moral standard by which most people lived. Several times God would move through the land in such a big way that the people thought about tearing down the jails. But now today we are ridden with greed and sin that our communities are having to build bigger jails. And the Bible is considered old and outdated. We are no longer accepting that the 31,102 points of instruction are still true and alive.

“Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.”

‭‭John‬ ‭17:17‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

“For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the ideas and thoughts of the heart.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Ephraim forgot that God is able to judge the thoughts in intentions of the heart and continued to live in blatant sin and was ousted from their land. Will we suffer the same course? I hope not. I want to do my part in keeping 10,000 points of instruction relevant and familiar to everyone who reads Brian’s Quiet Time Thoughts.

Thanks for taking the time to read.
