We can find the trinity in a single verse!

​“For then I will give to the peoples purified lips, That all of them may call on the name of the Lord, To serve Him shoulder to shoulder.”

About 15 years ago I was given a charge to find places where the Trinity is on display through the Bible. This verse matches that qualification, but I did not find it back then. 

We have four names of God: I, the name, Lord, and Him. 

First “I”! 

For then I will give to the peoples purified lips.

Who is the One who gives the people purified lips? I think it is the Holy Spirit. He is the burning coal from the altar who touched Isaiah’s lips. 

“Then I said, “Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal in his hand, which he had taken from the altar with tongs. He touched my mouth with it and said, “Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away and your sin is forgiven.”

It will be a challenge to separate the next two names. “The name of the Lord”. First, Lord is Yahweh. But then who’s name is to be worshiped above all other names? Jesus! So the name of the Lord could be Yahweh Jesus!

“For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

And last we have “Him”. To serve Him shoulder to shoulder. We might conclude that “Him” is once again Jesus, but we are called to serve Yahweh and forsake the gods of our fathers. So then God becomes our Father and we only have one Father, the God of Heaven and earth. 

“If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” The people answered and said, “Far be it from us that we should forsake the Lord to serve other gods;”

“Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.”

So. 

For then The Holy Spirit will give to the peoples purified lips, That all of them may call on Jesus, to serve God the father shoulder to shoulder.

“Make me that Person who has purified lips so Jesus may be my Lord and I and my house may serve The father.”
