Eternal word of God and eternal people
“Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever? But did not My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, overtake your fathers? Then they repented and said, ‘As the Lord of hosts purposed to do to us in accordance with our ways and our deeds, so He has dealt with us.”

I love the verses that show the eternity of God’s word and People. Zechariah 1:5-6 is one of those verses. God is speaking through Zechariah to the people. And He asked for the physical ancestors and the prophets that were around during the days before the exile. And God asked do they live forever in the flesh. To which the answer is no! But then He switches to His word. And asked did not My word outlast your fathers and prophets. Speaking to the fact that God’s word outlasts even generations. Which we know is true for there are prophecies that were made before the time of Jesus that are coming true in our day! And then the fathers and prophets repented and said that God has felt with us according to His eternal judgment as He saw fit. Therefore saying that people will spend eternity living in the judgment or grace of God.
So even though our fleshly body may die someday we will live an eternal life. Our biggest desire should be to inform everyone that Jesus is the way to the father who lives on in eternity past, present, and future. Eternal judgment and eternal grace are open to everyone it will be our choice which one we live for here in our fleshly lives. Will we submit to the lordship of Jesus and live the way he commands? Or will we stay in the domain of Satan and keep pleasing our flesh and living with the guilt that Satan keeps accusing us of?

So why do I like verses that show the eternity of God’s word and People? These are the only two things I can touch that will be in eternity with me. What are you touching today? Eternal things or temporary things?
