The seven eyes of God

​“For who has despised the day of small things? But these seven will be glad when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel—these are the eyes of the Lord which range to and fro throughout the earth.”

What are these seven eyes of the Lord? We see in this verse that they range to and fro throughout the earth.

“I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.”

“David built there an altar to the Lord and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. Thus the Lord was moved by prayer for the land, and the plague was held back from Israel.”

In Zechariah, there was something of seven earlier!

“He said to me, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see, and behold, a lampstand all of gold with its bowl on the top of it, and its seven lamps on it with seven spouts belonging to each of the lamps which are on the top of it;”

Zechariah saw a seven-candle lamp stand! May I make the argument that the seven eyes of God reside in the flame of the seven candles? Just like in David’s time the Lord saw from the flame. Can it be possible that God looks through fire? Anytime a candle is lit, a campfire, or a BBQ, God may be looking! 

When we look at a lantern there are three main parts. The oil in the bottom. The wick in the oil that extends toward the top. And the fire that is contained inside the glass. The oil is the Holy Spirit. The flame is God. And we are the wick. It is our job to not stop soaking in the Holy Spirit so that we may light the fire of God where we go. His fire burns through our eyes.

“The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!”

“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,”

When we fill our lives with too much of the wine of the world we weaken the effectiveness of the oil. And therefore we weaken the flame in our eyes.

“I am searching for a man among you who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it. Can I count on you? Keep your fire lit so that I may be seen in you by the world.”
