Be not shaken for God but be shaken by God!

“For assuredly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendant of Abraham. Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

Why is “descendant of Abraham” singular?

“For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For, as we all know, He (Christ) does not take hold of [the fallen] angels [to give them a helping hand], but He does take hold of [the fallen] descendants of Abraham [extending to them His hand of deliverance].”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The word descendant can be translated as seed or children. So first God is to help Isaac but not Ishmael. But then God helps Jacob (Israel) and not Esau. He helps David and not Eliab, his oldest brother. And on and God chooses to use just one person until last of all He chooses Mary and not any of her sisters. Then He begets Jesus and all that would call on His name is blessed and grafted into the family of Abraham so that He may grab a hold of to bless and be used by His Father.

When was the last time Jesus grabbed you? Have you allowed Him to shake your faults and sins off and allowed Him to shake your life to make room for more of Him in it?

I want to say this past week God has shaken me out of a super that I have been in for far too long and I am looking forward to what God is making room for in my life! Thanks, Calvin!

“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

“This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭27‬-‭29‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
