Living and Active

“For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

The Bible, Word of God, Holy Scripture, Old, and New Testament is a different kind of book. It is alive! No, your Bible will not walk across your room and jump into your hand and say read me! But it is alive in the fact that when we do read, listen, study, memorize, and meditate on it the words will jump off the page and make an impression on your mind and heart. It has the ability to decipher between your spirit and soul, something I have a hard time explaining. It can impact joints and marrow, something that is hard for the medical community to do. It also judges the hidden thoughts and intentions of your heart that you want to be hard to reach.

The word of God has penetrated deep into our civilization. Have you heard the term “scapegoat”? That is a reference to: “And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat.”

‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭16‬:‭8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Have you heard the phrase “the good samaritan”? It comes from the parable that Jesus told in Luke 10:30-37.

I want the Bible to become a daily impression on me and I want to daily share what I am hearing. So for me, Hebrew 3:13 has become a theme verse for Brian’s Quiet Time thoughts (BQTT).

“But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭3‬:‭13‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

The reason why I started BQTT is so that I have a way of sharing what God is telling me and it does not become stale learning and unfruitful. The contrast between the dead sea and the sea of Galilee is exactly why I want to share BQTT with you all. For if you look at the sea of Galilee you will see it is vibrant and full of life. Why? It has an outsource that carries the life out of it called the Jordan river. But at the end of the Jordan river is the Dead Sea. And why is it dead? It has no place to carry the salt out and therefore through evaporation the water has left 1,000’s of times but the salt has remained making it so salty that nothing can live in it. So while life is flowing into it the Dead Sea has nothing flowing out of it to carry away life to something else.

The same thing is true of me and you. If we have no outlet for life we become dead and unfruitful. We become white-washed tombs just like the Pharisees.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭23‬:‭27‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

I don't want to be that to the people around me. I want to be living and active for all to see.
