Small beginning of BQTT

​In August 2017 I started Brian’s Quiet time thoughts with Hebrews 12:1

“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,”

I spent the first-month recording thoughts from Hebrews 12:1-13 in my note app on my iPhone 5, I think. 

Here is an excerpt of the notes I took from verse 1.

Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us

1a. We have people watching us. They are looking for a positive example of Christ. But they will see any image of Christ we portray.

let us lay aside every weight

1b. Every weight is those things that are not sin but that which distracts us from the real goal to be the positive example to the cloud of witnesses that is watching.

and the sin that so easily ensnares us.

1c. We must lay aside the sin that we eagerly run after. When we are chasing sin we are neglecting the witness for Christ. Then we are also presenting a witness that looks exactly like the world. And the world sees no difference between then and us so why would they want to join us. But if they see Jesus instead of us in our sin then they will recognize the missing parts in their lives and want Jesus.

;Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us,

1d. Every day is a challenge. Life is a challenge. We must be willing to finish each day for Jesus and for the people around is. When we do that then we can finish life for Jesus. There are days when we finish half hearted or poorly but then we need to resolve in ourselves and to God to do better and strive to be a victor (Revelation 1:7, 11, 17, 27-28, 3:5, 12, 21)

I have not done any editing but left it as I typed it 5 and 1/2 years ago. I will always remember Hebrews 12:1 as the verse that started BQTT. Since then things have changed 

1. Started my blog (January 12, 2018)

2. Typed out my notes on a Bluetooth keyboard till October 2021 when I lost my keyboard.

3. Started using Grammarly to proofread my notes.

4. Used an iPhone 5, 6s, Samsung, and iPhone 11

5. Started as a text message to about 5 people. Grew to include all social media apps, email, the Bible app with verse images, and a text message to 29 people. 

“The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will finish it. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you. For who has despised the day of small things? But these seven will be glad when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel—these are the eyes of the Lord which range to and fro throughout the earth.”

It has been a morning of reflection on the beginning days of BQTT. I look forward to the days when God expands BQTT to whatever is next for BQTT. Thank you all for taking the time to read this and the posts you do read. Some may be long some may be short. But I promise you I will try to always listen to God and bring you what God is speaking to me through my Bible readings in the mornings.
