But you, dear friends, build yourselves up!

“But you, dear friends, as you build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, expecting the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life.”

‭‭Jude‬ ‭1‬:‭20‬-‭21‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Jude has laid out what evil people do in the previous ten verses. I don’t want to go there but I do what to encourage you, dear friends.

Build yourselves up. As a Christian, it is important to learn from others, but it is also our responsibility to learn from God through the Bible. As a result, we will feed ourselves daily.

In the most holy faith. There is a bunch of knowledge out there. But the most fundamental is a firm foundation on Jesus for everything else is preference. It is by faith that we live and breathe.

Pray in the Holy Spirit. For the Spirit knows how to pray for us while we may be at a loss for words He knows what we need and how to communicate to God the Father.

Keeping yourselves in the love of God. Can we be out of love with God? Most theology tells us that we cannot escape from the love of God. Through un-confessed sin, we can step out of the Love of God. But confession to the true High Preist will restore us to the Love of God once again.

Expecting the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ. We wait with anticipation of the return of Jesus to finally establish His rule and reign here on earth and extend mercy to all who would accept it from Him.

For eternal life! We know that this current battle called life is but a short time compared to life eternal with Jesus. We just get to practice living eternally while we fight against the flesh and the rulers of this world to press on toward holiness in God.
