Your children walking in The Truth
“I was very glad to find some of your children walking in the truth, in keeping with a command we have received from the Father.”
Children in the New Testament can mean offspring or spiritual converts and disciples. John, The Elder, is writing to The Elect Lady and rejoices with her that some of her kids are walking in the truth of the gospel and commands of the Lord. So is John referring to her physical or spiritual kids? I would say both. She may have at least three physical offspring and two are walking with Jesus. And she has people in her life whom she is pouring into and some of them are walking with God.
What about you and me? Do we have kids who are walking with God? Are we training them in The Way in all areas of their lives?
“Teach a youth about the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
“These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

It starts with us having The Bible in our hearts. Not just memorized, but lived out by our actions. Then in all areas, we teach our kids to do the same.
What about spiritual kids? Do you have someone active in your life that you are training to be a better Christian? The same technique applies. Live out the Word of God and teach them to do the same.
