I was found by those who were not looking for Me
“And Isaiah says boldly: I was found by those who were not looking for Me; I revealed Myself to those who were not asking for Me.”
How can someone find God without looking for Him? I see two ways! First, God through His Spirit drops the truth about Himself into the spirit of the person who is not looking for God. God can and has moved this way but in very few people. Second, God uses people who will speak His Word to others either in a group or in one-on-one conversations. Then God uses the word that people have heard to stir in their souls to bring them to find Him. This second method is the most common.
“But how can they call on Him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about Him? And how can they hear without a preacher? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who announce the gospel of good things!”
Romans 10:14-15 HCSB
“So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.”
God wants to use people in the lives of others. If He did not want to use us then as soon as we become a Christian, He might as well take us home. But He leaves us here so that others will hear and see us loving Him.
Will we be a people who when others see us in the good times and bad praising God and living with the joy and peace He brings?
“If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation. Now the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on Him will not be put to shame,”
Romans 10:9-11 HCSB
