The seven acts and teachings of Jesus.
The seven acts and teachings of Jesus.
Jesus’ miracles and teachings can be summed up in 5 miracles, 1 message, and 1 attitude. But he never did the same miracle the same way twice. He was the Creator in the beginning, was creative in His ministry, and will continue to instill creativity in His people.
1. The blind receive their sight.
Jesus healed four or more people who were blind. One man had to go and wash. One man Jesus made mud and put it on his eyes. One man Jesus had to touch twice. Once there were two of them.
2. The lame walk.
Twice or more Jesus healed the legs of people who could not walk. Once Jesus also forgave his sins. Once Jesus found a guy desperate to get into a pool. Both times He told them them to pick up their mat and walk.
3. Those with skin diseases are healed,
Twice or more Jesus found people who were captured by a skin disease. One there were 10 people in a group and he told them to go and show themselves to the priest, one came back to worship and thank Jesus. Once Jesus touched a diseased man and then sent him the the priest.
4. The deaf hear (I am going to lump mute in here as well).
Twice or more Jesus healed people who were deaf or mute or both. Once Jesus put his fingers in the ears of the man and spit on His own fingers and touched his tongue. Once He rebuked a demon and the man spoke.
5. The dead are raised, (I am counting also those who were near death )
Six or more times Jesus raised someone to life. Once was a friend who was dead for four days. Once Jesus stopped a funeral procession. Once a father pleaded with Jesus to come to his daughter but Jesus gave the word and she got better. Once Jesus grabbed the hand of a mother-in-law. Once Jesus was on the way to the house but the centurion stopped Jesus from coming further and the slave was healed.
I guess we could add one more kind of healing. The general healing. Things like a withered hand or spine issues caused by satan or a woman with uncontrolled and not normal bleeding. Just your normal general physician stuff.
6. The poor are told the good news.
The last and most important healing is to go from poor to rich in the currency of heaven. Poor in spirit to rich in spirit. Unlearned in the things of God to well-versed in Him. Jesus did not vary in His message to the people but only in the way he delivered it. His teachings to the poor are the good news of God’s plan of salvation for all those who will adapt to the next point.
7. And anyone who is not offended because of Me is blessed.
The world will continue to be offended by Jesus because He tells them how to live and they don't want to hear it. But those who will heed Jesus' call and live the righteous life He expects will find new friends, new desires, and new joys in Him.
You may have noticed I said “or more” in the first five points. I do believe He healed more than those listed. Read Luke 7:21 HCSB which is the verse just before our focused verses.
”At that time Jesus healed many people of diseases, plagues, and evil spirits, and He granted sight to many blind people.“
Jesus was allowing John’s disciples to view His ministry to be able to report back to John if Jesus was the Messiah. There will be times when we doubt who Jesus is but all we must do is get back to learning who He was to find who He is.
”Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.“
