In The Days of Noah and Lot
In the Days of Noah and Lot.
On what night? In the night like Noah’s or Lot’s!
What was happening on the night of Noah’s and Lot’s?
”Just as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man: People went on eating, drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage until the day Noah boarded the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. It will be the same as it was in the days of Lot: People went on eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building. But on the day Lot left Sodom, fire, and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all.“
Luke 17:26-29 HCSB
What is about to happen that will be compared to Noah and Lot?
”It will be like that on the day the Son of Man is revealed.“
Do you think Noah and his family were eating and drinking? Marring and being given in marriage? Buying and selling? Planting or harvesting? Gathering materials and building? What about Lot and his family? I would say they were not! Noah and his family were done building the ark and a burden was on them once God shut the door. There would be no party, but rather morning and weeping for those family members and friends who were not on the ark. Do you think that from the time the two angels entered Lot’s home, they would be parting? No! There would have been a heavy atmosphere at the pending doom of Sodom and Gomorrah! Even a heartfelt sadness for the two fiancés of his two daughters who would not heed the warning of Lot.
So it should be today! Most people believe we are in the last few days, months, and years before Jesus is revealed. I know we have fewer years left than my grandparents’ generation did. Are you ready for Jesus to be revealed here again? Are the people in your immediate circle ready too? What about the people you see occasionally? What about the strangers you cross paths with?
So back up to the focus verses. Who was taken and who was left? Could it be that those who were taken were the ones who were eating and drinking? Or were they the ones who were left?
”Whoever tries to make his life secure will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.“
Noah, his family, Lot, and his family were losing their way of life in the old wicked system and then received back a new life saved from the old system. So too should we also expect to be saved from the old system and enjoy a new life with Jesus after He has been revealed! The people of their generations were lost to their destruction so too those who have rejected Jesus will leave this life behind. I am not going to argue whether Christ's followers will left behind or taken but are you willing to lay down your life so that way He can be manifested in you along with the rest of the world?
