The Flatcar: Be steadfast
The Flatcar: Be steadfast
What does it mean to be steadfast? Does that mean we are not moving? No but rather, like a good secure load on a flatcar the load is secure and not moving. We too should have our convictions secure and founded on scripture.
“So then, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now even more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose.”
Philippians 2:12-13 HCSB
Jesus was steadfast when facing trials before the Sanhedrin and the Government. He was silent about false accusations and barely spoke about true questions. He did not need to defend Himself but stood resolute in what the Father sent Him to do.
“The high priest then stood up and said to Him, “Don’t You have an answer to what these men are testifying against You? ” But Jesus kept silent. Then the high priest said to Him, “By the living God I place You under oath: tell us if You are the Messiah, the Son of God! ” “You have said it,” Jesus told him. “But I tell you, in the future you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
Matthew 26:62-64 HCSB
“Now Jesus stood before the governor. “Are You the King of the Jews? ” the governor asked Him. Jesus answered, “You have said it.” And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He didn’t answer.”
Matthew 27:11-12 HCSB
How secure is your load? Have you thrown a Bungie cord around it? Or have you locked it down like Fort Knox? The more we spend on The Word the more secure we are. When we spend time hearing, reading, studying, memorizing, and meditating on The Word we are adding more security to our convictions.
“Therefore strengthen your tired hands and weakened knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated but healed instead.”
