Purity
Purity
we talk about purity we always talk about sexuality but there is so much to a pure life. Ephesians tells us:
“But sexual immorality and any impurity or greed should not even be heard of among you, as is proper for saints.”
Purity excludes sexual immorality, any impurity, and greed. So to live a pure life we must have sexual morality, purity of all kinds, and be generous.
Peter tells us:
“Dear friends, I urge you as strangers and temporary residents to abstain from fleshly desires that war against you.”
We do not belong in the world so we are not to act like the world by avoiding the actions of the world that are contrary to our spirit.
Peter goes on to say:
“Conduct yourselves honorably among the Gentiles, so that in a case where they speak against you as those who do what is evil, they will, by observing your good works, glorify God on the day of visitation.”
We are living for Jesus. Does the world see Him in all we do? Do we live a pure life when the world is watching? This is something the church as a whole has gotten away from, but I believe we are coming back to it!
Do we live a pure life when God is watching? He is always watching! He is not watching and waiting for us to mess up, but He is watching us because He loves us and wants us to lean on Him.
“Little children, we must not love with word or speech, but with truth and action.”
We are back to “Love”. We must be willing to love God with actions and in truth. When we only love God with words and speech I believe He will act un us as Revelation 3 says He will.
“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I’m rich; I have become wealthy and need nothing,’ and you don’t know that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked,”
Revelation 3:15-17 HCSB
He will spit out those who are lukewarm in their purity, works. Don’t be lukewarm, but be hot for living for God.
