The Engine: Put Christ First
The Engine: Put Christ First
Hop aboard “The Disciple Express” and learn how to be Jesus’s disciple.
Back in college, I sat down with the man who would be my best man at my wedding and we came up with illustrations for the last three packs of the TMS. I remember this pack being a train. So today we are going to learn about putting Jesus as the engine of our lives.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.”
We talked about Matthew 6 in “His Provision”.
But now after He has provided what will we do with what it? Will we use it to seek after God, Jesus, and their Kingdom? If we are to be a disciple of Jesus we must learn from Him how to behave in His kingdom. The King is trying His best to train His kids to run the kingdom. Are we willing to listen and obey Him? Is He Lord over our lives or just a good savior? When He is Lord He can pour so much more into us to accomplish what He intends to do in our lives.
“Then He said to them all, “If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”
We have a responsibility as children of the Kingdom to take up our cross daily and follow Jesus. What does taking up our cross mean anyway? When we look to the cross of Jesus it was the torture device that He would lay down His life on. We to must lay down not our life to die a physical death, but to lay down our wants and desires and to pick up His wants and desires for our lives. And then follow after Him and be the best example of Him we can be to the people around us today!
