Must Receive Christ

“Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and have dinner with him, and he with Me.” ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬ ‭HCSB ‬‬ Jesus is speaking to John, in Revelation, to the church, that we are to welcome Jesus into our life. There is a simple read called “ My Heart Christ’s Home ” in which Jesus is walking through the author’s heart like he was showing off his home. Some doors were opened to Jesus and doors were closed. Jesus never forced his way in any doors but promised that one day he would open them up to Him. For the believer, we must be willing to confess everything to Him and open up the door to Him. For the person who is not a Christian, yet, we must be willing to open our hearts to Him. If you are doubting spend time reading the Bible and start in John for a glimpse of how much He loves you. “But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in His name,” ‭‭John‬ ‭1‬:‭12‬

Salvation Not By Works

  Salvation is not by works. “For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift — not from works, so that no one can boast.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭HCSB ‬‬ “He saved us — not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy — through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.” ‭‭Titus‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ ‭HCSB ‬‬ Works is a difficult subject. We are not saved by what we do. We are saved by faith in Jesus and His works on the cross. But deeds are essential to a Christian to give an outward expression of our faith. “For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.” ‭‭James‬ ‭2‬:‭26‬ ‭HCSB ‬‬ That is why Jesus may deny knowing some “christians”. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord! ’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven. Christ Paid the Penality

  Christ Paid the Penalty “But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/72/rom.5.8.HCSB God loves us beyond what we comprehend. But He proves it to us by Jesus’ death. He does not ask that we clean up before coming to Him.   Sin’s penalty  “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭23‬ ‭HCSB ‬‬ “And just as it is appointed for people to die once — and after this, judgment —” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9‬:‭27‬ ‭HCSB ‬‬ We talked in the last BQTT that “ all have sinned. ” But what does that mean for us? The penalty for sin is death. When those first people ate of the tree it awakened a death gene in them and all their children. There is nothing we can do to escape it. In the days of Noah God shortened the time allowed for a life sentence from 900 years to 120 with the average to be 70-80. God would slowly roll this out limiting one generation to experience 100 fewer years.  “And the Lord said, “My Spirit will not remain with mankind forever, because they are corrupt. All Have Sinned

  All Have Sinned  “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬ ‭HCSB ‬‬ We like to use the phrase, “missed the mark.” When talking about sin. Romans gives us a hint of that saying we have “fallen short of the glory of God.” God is Holy and by nature we are not. It was not so in the beginning. God created the first man and woman and placed them in a garden called Eden. They were holy up until they chose to disobey God and ate the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.  “And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree of the garden, but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat from it, you will certainly die.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭HCSB ‬‬ “Then the woman saw that the tree was good for food and delightful to look at, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom. So she took some of its fruit and ate it; she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

  Witnessing “Follow Me,” He told them, “and I will make you fish for people! ” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬ ‭HCSB ‬‬ I can guarantee that we are fishing for people! What kind of bait are we using? Are we using Godly bait or the world's bait?  “Now the works of the flesh are obvious:  sexual immorality, moral impurity, promiscuity, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and anything similar.  I tell you about these things in advance — as I told you before — that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control.  Against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭19‬-‭24‬ ‭HCSB ‬‬ God’s bait is all the good stuff listed above but the Devil’s bait is all the sins listed
